The influence of Asian Ceramics has always been evident in my work. I was taught to fire with wood in my apprenticeship and have in the past 4 years expanded this practice to firing with wood and then in many but not all cases, refiring with gas, delivering all kinds of beautiful effects that relate to the Asian aesthetics. Many of the pots in this show have been wood and gas fired but others are fired only once with either wood or gas. this is the luxurious option that has presented itself to me and I am always fascinated at the results.
