My interest in pottery began in 1973 when I attended a hobby class. Over the years I learned through workshops, and a great deal of trial and error. In 1991 I completed a Diploma Course at O.E.C.T.
I have always found the making of forms totally absorbing, whether it is on the wheel or the more gentle process of handbuilding. When making my large pots I combine both handbuilding and the wheeel, using the coil and throw technique. I use stoneware clay which fires up to 1300C. This makes them vitreous and able to withstand the elements.
Being a very practical person most of my pots end up functional pieces. I am quite comfortable with this tendency. However I believe there should always be growth, so who knows what lies ahead! |
